Destination Mars: The Quest for Healthy Space Travel IAOM-US's own Jean-Michel Brismée, PT, ScD, was selected as a
reviewer for “Life Science” space research proposals for the
European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA. Jean-Michel was designated as the reporter for two proposals and attended the meeting in Brussels on December 1st and 2nd, along with a global panel of reviewers from Japan, France, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Canada and the USA. “This was a fantastic and very informative experience,” Jean-Michel reported. Designed to be conducted with astronauts at the International Space Station, most of the proposed research relates to new technologies to evaluate and counteract challenges that stem from prolonged space travel, including osteoporosis, muscle wasting, back pain and thermoregulatory dysfunction. Revolutionary physical therapies will condition astronauts to travel to and from Mars in optimal physical health. We are proud to call Dr. Brismée one of our own! |
