There are many benefits to hosting and IAOM-US course.Course sponsors will provide an opportunity for their colleagues to learn from the most recent research compiled and adapted for clinical use.

IAOM-US courses offer individualized attention assured by a low student-to-teacher ratio coupled with text-based instruction that is tightly associated with hands-on training.  The courses are presented in a relaxed, yet highly professional atmosphere.

The goal of the IAOM-US is to bring all participants to a level whereby then can:

  • Explain pathoanatomy, physiology, and biomechanics of the specific joint complex being studied.
  • Conduct a concise clinical examination and determine a precise diagnosis.
  • Perform effective local treatment of soft tissue lesions through an accurate understanding of surface anatomy and tissue physiology.

  • Establish an effective exercise program based on affliction-specific considerations.

Courses are typically held over 3 full days, starting at 8:00 a.m. and lasting until 5:00 p.m. Participants receive a supplementary manual for use during the training sessions. Textbooks are available at the course and are not required but highly recommended. In addition, participants are encouraged to bring note-taking materials, skeletal models, and clinical reports with appropriate imaging studies for discussion.

Courses have been approved for Physical Therapy Continuing Education Units. The IAOM-US is an approved provider for the BOC.

If you would like to host a course in 2011, please review the Sponsor Requirements, complete the 2011 Course Request Form and return to the IAOM-US office before March 1, 2010.
