COMT or CAMM?
Become COMT and CAMM
The Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT) is a post-graduate specialization program designed for those physical and occupational therapists who decide to improve their manual therapy tools and skills, emphasizing advanced clinical reasoning, evidenced-informed and patient-centered approaches, examination, soft tissue management and joint specific mobilization. By achieving the COMT level professionals are worldwide recognized as highly skilled clinicians who have transformed their practice and promoted success recovery in their patients. The IAOM-US COMT is considered as the professional able to apply a systematic approach that identifies clinical patterns and creates specific treatments to address musculoskeletal movement dysfunctions.
The Certification in Advanced Musculoskeletal Management (CAMM) takes one step further in the clinical path towards expertise. Adding to COMT specific clinical and biopsychosocial approaches as well as sensorimotor control assessment and treatment strategies. This ensures that the professional is not only highly hands-on skilled but also confident to approach patients as integral human beings. By incorporating their unique context, considering potential perpetuating factors and movement/functional deficits, the CAMM is able to make critical decisions while facilitating direct interaction and communication with patients, colleagues and other health professionals.
