The online portion of this course is available 24/7. It is segmented into lecture modules plus module assessments to gauge your understanding (must meet a minimum score prior to moving to the next module). You are able to start and stop your viewing time as needed.

This is a course that is designed to enable clinicians to execute a systematic, comprehensive, and evidence-based sensorimotor control program aimed at functional recovery for their patients suffering from lower quarter pain, dysfunction, and or performance deficits.  The course will implement state of the art sensorimotor control and learning principles to address patients’ specific lower quarter control needs in a diagnosis-inclusive fashion.  A progressive approach to a functional examination will be discussed and practiced.  The clinician will learn how to design, implement a progress a program that addresses locomotor and somatosensory fundamental reactivation.  Corrective strategies will be implemented in response to functional examination findings.  Management will be progressed with improvement of fundamental performance, agility training and advancement into functional recovery.  Functional management strategies will be related to clinical examination findings and manual therapy treatment.  Various different strategies will be discussed relevant to each patient’s clinical presentation and clinical cases will be reviewed.

Objectives and Goals

At the conclusion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  • Describe the application of sensorimotor control & learning principles to lower quarter rehabilitation.
  • Apply knowledge of pathology to specific decisions regarding sensorimotor control of the lower quarter.
  • Present an evidence-based, comprehensive and systematic model of sensorimotor control to the management of patients with lower quarter pain, dysfunction and/or functional performance deficits.
  • Explain the structure and function of key neuromuscular components involved in lower quarter control and performance.
  • Demonstrate functional evaluation tools that are aimed at identifying functional deficits and measuring relevant sensorimotor functions found in patients suffering from painful lower quarter conditions.
  • Execute specific locomotor and somatosensory fundamental exercise strategies that serve as a foundation for recovery.
  • Implement corrective movement strategies that correspond with functional examination findings.
  • Relate functional management strategies to clinical examination findings and manual therapy treatment.
  • Connect cognitive and biopsychosocial factors to the prescription of a sensorimotor control program in patients suffering from lower quarter pain, dysfunction and/or functional performance deficits.

This course will consist of live lecture and hands-on lab demonstration modeling techniques over the course of 2 days.

There will be a maximum of 16:1 student to instructor ratio.
