Course Description

14.5 Contact Hours – Instructor-led Training

Participants will learn to follow a systematic approach to addressing trauma to the hand: addressing extrinsic versus intrinsic tightness and develop an understanding of when it is appropriate to perform joint mobilization techniques directly to the thumb CMC joint. Participants will also perform joint specific techniques to improve mobility of the MP, PIP and DIP joints of the fingers.

NOTE: The course host requires participants to have their coronavirus vaccinations completed to participate in this course.

Objectives and Goals

Through a combination of lecture and lab, participants will….

  • Demonstrate specific manual techniques to address issues with the radial column of the wrist.
  • Develop an understanding of when it is appropriate to perform joint mobilization techniques directly to the thumb CMC joint.
  • Perform joint specific techniques to improve mobility of the MP, PIP and DIP joints of the fingers.
  • Follow a systematic approach to addressing trauma to the hand:
    addressing extrinsic versus intrinsic tightness.
  • Develop a plan of care to address issues specifically affecting the MP joints, PIP joints, and DIP joints.

This course will consist of live lecture and hands-on lab demonstration modeling techniques over the course of 2 days.

There will be a maximum of 16:1 student to instructor ratio.
