This intensive two-day MasterClass, led by Jean-Michel Brismée, PT, ScD, delivers advanced, evidence-informed strategies for the evaluation and management of complex orthopaedic conditions. Designed for experienced clinicians, the course integrates the latest research on intervertebral disc health, spinal stenosis, acute inflammation management, tendinopathy, and meniscus injuries. Participants will engage in a dynamic mix of lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions, refining both diagnostic reasoning and manual therapy skills. Special emphasis is placed on enhancing disc health, integrating motor control principles, and applying practical interventions that can be implemented immediately in clinical practice.
Objectives and Goals
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Differentiate intervertebral disc-related pain from other sources using advanced clinical reasoning and diagnostic techniques.
- Apply manual therapy interventions targeting cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine disc health with an evidence-informed approach.
- Incorporate strategies to enhance intervertebral disc resilience through optimal loading principles.
- Evaluate and manage spinal stenosis with updated clinical guidelines.
- Integrate motor control retraining into the management of spinal-related pain for improved patient outcomes.
- Assess and treat tendinopathy using current best-practice evaluation tools and management protocols.
- Differentiate between traumatic and degenerative meniscus injuries and implement manual therapy management strategies.
- Critically appraise the evolving role and future trends of manual therapy in orthopaedic practice.
This course will consist of live lecture and hands-on lab demonstration modeling techniques over the course of 2 days.
There will be a maximum of 16:1 student to instructor ratio.
